Maternity Reflexology

Pregnancy is one of natures miracles.  Maternity reflexology is a fabulous treatment which allows valuable time for you to focus on your pregnancy and baby.

Reflexology is a wonderful treatment to have throughout your pregnancy. It is incredibly calming and relaxing, helping to reduce any stress and anxiety which you may be experiencing and in doing so helps to reduce stress hormones, which have a detrimental physical effect on the body.

Towards the end of your pregnancy reflexology helps to prepare the body for birth by helping you to relax and thus help with the production of Oxytocin.  Stress inhibits the production of oxytocin.

Oxytocin is a hormone produced by the body.  During the reflexology session, I will massage in a slow, gentle, rhythmic manner the lower leg.  Not only does this feel amazing, it encourages the production of Oxytocin which has many benefits, including:

Increases your pain threshold

Reduces stress hormones

Reduces blood pressure and heart rate

Helps to induce sleep

Helps to promote uterine contractions

Helps with lactation

Reflexology can not induce a baby, being induced is a medical procedure.   I am trained in reflexology techniques which I believe will help prepare the body for birth and once the baby is ready to be born, I believe these techniques will help to expediate the birth.

Stress can increase many symptoms in pregnancy including nausea and headaches, so helping to reduce your stress levels, reflexology can have a positive effect by helping you to reduce these symptoms.
