‘Structural reflexology aims to release stress and compensation in the entire body. Structural reflexology addresses tension sites on the feet as the product of local muscle and ligament strain while maintaining an understanding of how these sites of tension will impact the rest of the body’.
Structural reflexology involves the massage of the legs (below the knees) and feet. This relaxes the muscles, tendons and ligaments, releasing stress and tension in the entire body. It is a deeply relaxing treatment
Structural reflexology can help to
· Reduce stress in the feet and body.
· Overcome joint tension in the feet.
· Relieve muscle strain in the feet and legs.
· Increase joint motion in the feet.
· Bring the foot back to a stage that is comfortable.
What can I expect?
After discussing your medical history, and answering any questions you may have, I will take a measurement of your feet - heel to toe and arch length. This will allow me to see whether your current shoe size is restricting your feet in anyway. I will then ask you to walk over a specialised ink pad
(you aren't exposed to the ink in any way) which will show stress points as you walk and will guide me in the session.
You will be able to relax on an adjustable, deep memory foam couch; a soft blanket will be available to keep you warm. Your feet will be refreshed and a soothing reflexology balm will be massaged onto your feet and lower legs. I will check the level of massage pressure you prefer. I will walk over each zone of your feet and corresponding foot and leg muscles feeling for areas of tension, imbalance across the structures..
An element of the treatment is Reflexology using a variety of massage, relaxation techniques and pressure points to feel across the reflexes for changes to tissue texture and density. Reflexology doesn't have to be a firm, painful experience - it is better for you to let me know when the pressure is beyond your comfort levels, allowing me to reduce the pressure and massage the affected reflex for longer, to reach the same balancing effect.
At the end of the session, I will give you some aftercare advice and offer you a couple of hand key reflex points, that you can use to reinforce the treatment at home.
